Hemp is the "non drug - low THC" variety of the plant species cannabis sativa L., which was re-legalized for cultivation in March 1998 by the Government of Canada and is administered and regulated by Health Canada.(see http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/hpb-dgps/therapeut/htmleng/hemp.html for info on the regulations). Hemp, with its non-psychoactive properties, has been grown for thousands of years for seed, oil and fiber uses. Hemp has been purported to have some 25,000 different uses including food, textiles, paper, rope, bio-fuels, lubricants, building materials and paint to name a few. Health Canada licenses all individuals and companies involved in the production, processing and distribution of hemp seed and oil derivatives for their respective activities. We are licensed with Health Canada to process hemp seed, hemp oil and seed cake products. In Canada, we are regulated to produce hemp derivatives containing less than 10 mcg/g (parts per million) of THC (delta 9-tetrahydrocannabinol). Hemp Oil Canada produces unrefined hemp oil and seed products by carefully and thoroughly cleaning bulk hemp seed to remove the trace THC that can contaminate the seed coat. Our products are batch tested following processing for THC according to the Health Canada protocol for THC analysis found in the Industrial Hemp Technical Manual. We are pleased to report the concentration of THC in all our products is "none detected". Our products are all produced from viable hemp seed (non-sterilized) to insure product freshness and quality. Our hemp seed is grown without the use of any pesticides or herbicides. Hemp is a true non-GMO (genetically modified organism) natural seed product, free from any genetic manipulation. Hemp seed is grown in Canada both as conventional seed (sometimes referred to as "transitional organic" without the use of pesticides or herbicides, but with the use of chemical fertilizers to prepare the seed bed) and also as "Certified Organic" in strict compliance with the organic certification standards of the certifying body. As Hemp Oil Canada, we are a both conventional and certified organic processor with OCPP/Pro-Cert Organic Systems, who have reciprocal accreditation with most major organic certifying bodies worldwide.
